Be clever, play smart, and become versed in craps the right way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately 100 years old. Current craps come about from the old English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the beginnings of the game, but Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.
Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when expelled by the British, the French relocated south and found safety in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which was derived from the term for the losing toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi river boats and all over the country. Most think the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the modern craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to lose. At another time, he designed the spaces for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
