Be brilliant, play smart, and master craps the right way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps come about from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the ancestry of the game, however Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s soldiers played Hazard amid a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when exiled by the British, the French headed south and located sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which was gotten from the name of the non-winning toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi river boats and throughout the country. Most acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the current craps setup. He added the Don’t Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he invented the spaces for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
